Call for Participation: Uprooted - (Hi)Stories of Stolen Children in WWII and Beyond - Training course

03.06.2024  |  Zaproszenie do udziału w wymianie

“Uprooted – (Hi)Stories of Stolen Children in WWII and Beyond” is an engaging and immersive educational programme that delves into the harrowing history of children forcibly abducted from their families during times of conflict. The programme started with a strong focus on children who were stolen from German-occupied parts of countries such as Poland, the Czech Republic and Ukraine during World War II and taken back to Germany where they were subjected to forced “Aryanization”. We are now broadening the scope of the programme and take a closer look at the fates of children in other conflicts.

Date: 7th September to 13th September 2024

Place: Thessaloniki, Greece

Application deadline: 28th June 2024

This edition will investigate the realities of life for children during the German invasion of Greece in WWII. Moreover, we will explore the fate of stolen children during the Greek Civil War, between 1946 and 1949. By taking a closer look at the histories of children experiencing WWII and the Greek Civil War, we also want to confront the political ideologies that shaped those times.

The training course advocates for raising awareness of the importance of children's rights and provides educational tools that allow us to address the violation of these rights in today's world.

This training will allow you to learn more about this often-overlooked group of victims of WWII, give you the chance to explore the fate of stolen children in Greece, and provide you with an opportunity to discuss the importance of children’s rights.
