Local in Global

"Local in Global" is a project cycle with various events for youth workers and young people from Armenia, Bulgaria, Germany, the Republic of Moldova, Poland and Ukraine. Think globally, act locally - this idea is at the centre of the various meetings.

It is important to us, to not only share theoretical knowledge about sustainability, economic growth and the use of resources with young people, but also to enable them to experience cooperation, creativity and self-efficacy. That is why, Kreisau-Initiative, together with its partners developed the simulation game ”Welcome to Krapowa“, a scenario playing in the fictional city of post-industrial Krapowa.

While the training introduces various methods of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), which can be applied in the youth workers' own practice, the simulation game is at the centre of the two youth exchanges. After getting to know each other and an interactive introduction to the topic of sustainability, the participants take on the roles of various political and civil society actors in the post-industrial town of Krapowa and work together to develop strategies to tackle different policy issues. Krapowa offers a safe learning space in which young adults can try out their ideas for a sustainable future. Building on these experiences, the young people develop their own strategies for action to become agents of change themselves.

A recent format is the ‘Forum on sustainable development in rural areas’, where active and former participants of the training programme come together to discuss the specific challenges of education for sustainable development in rural areas and share examples of good practice.
